Celebrating 38 with Purpose: My Birthday Fundraiser
Today, I turn 38. And instead of gifts, I'm asking for something that matters far more — your support for two organizations I built from the ground up, for reasons that are deeply personal.
It Started With My Mom
LWC Foundation was born from a story that isn't mine — it's my mother's.
She was a single teenage mom who never had a baby shower. She was young and faced a decision that would change everything. She chose me — to keep me and give me a chance at life. And because she did, I am here.
I founded LWC Foundation in 2018 because I never wanted another mother to feel unseen, unsupported, or without options. Every community baby shower we throw, every baby item we provide, every therapy session we subsidize through our Therapy for Moms fund — it's all an act of honoring what my mom deserved and never had.
This month is Maternal Mental Health Month, and we are relaunching our Therapy for Moms fund to provide subsidized therapy and copay assistance for moms and dads who can't afford help. Because 1 in 5 women experience maternal anxiety or depression — and too many never get treatment. That ends with us.

Food Is a Foundation Issue
In September 2024, I founded Cornerstone Cares — the care and compassion ministry of Cornerstone RVA — because my husband and I believe the church should be a tangible source of help for the community around it. Not just on Sundays. Every single day.
Our first initiative was the CBC Food Pantry, and I launched it because I believe healthy food is not a privilege — it is a foundation. You cannot pour into your family, your community, or your faith when your most basic needs go unmet.
In less than a year, we have fed more than 1,500 people through monthly on-campus client choice shopping — where families come in and choose what they need with dignity, not charity. We also provide diapers, wipes, menstrual products, and hygiene items. This summer, we are expanding to two delivery days so we can reach even more families in North Chesterfield.
And Cornerstone Cares is just getting started. Later this year, we will be extending our mission to ensure that every family, regardless of circumstance, has access to what they need to thrive.

What I'm Asking For
This birthday, I'm celebrating by inviting you into the work.
Give $5. Give $38. Give whatever feels right. Or simply share this post so someone who needs these resources knows they exist.
Every dollar goes directly to moms, dads, and families who are navigating hard seasons and deserve to know they are not alone.
Thank you for celebrating with me in a way that actually means something. This is 38. This is purpose. 💜
Chelsi is the Founder of LWC Foundation and First Lady of Cornerstone RVA, where she founded Cornerstone Cares — the church's care and compassion ministry — which includes the CBC Food Pantry.
